The home for choral singers in their 20s and early 30s who yearn for both a social/networking atmosphere and superior artistic experiences, The Young New Yorkers' Chorus is looking for singers of all voice parts. We present beautiful performances in lush venues, energetic and engaging rehearsals, and social events like kickball, bowling, karaoke and bar pub-crawls. Most soloists are selected from within the group, and the repertoire represents a variety of the best of the art form. YNYC rehearses Tuesday nights from 7pm to 9:30 in Manhatt an's mid-town west neighborhood.

The exciting 2009-2010 season features a holiday concert called "Lovelight," featuring Christmas carols and works by Whitacre, Grieg, Biebl and Paulus. "Elegiac Verses," the second concert of the season, will consist of sections of the Requiems of Howells, Victoria and Richafort, as well as Tarik O'Regan's thrilling Tryptich and Beethoven's Elegischer Gesang, both for choir and string orchestra. The final concert, "Pleasure Principle," will feature Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia and three new works commissioned through our Competition for Young Composers, a unique event that brings national interest to YNYC while underscoring its commitment to young artists.

Auditions will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25 and Thursday, August 27. Other times are available by appointment throughout the season. Audition location: Kaufman Center, 129 West 67th Street. The auditions will consist of sight-singing, vocal exercises and any prepared piece you wish to bring.

If you are interested in auditioning, please contact us at info@ynyc.org.
